JUST SO YOU KNOW
It’s been said if you see a turtle on a fence post you know for sure he didn’t get there by himself. That’s certainly true in my case. People like to talk about championships won and coach of the year awards etc… I was privileged to coach some really great kids who pulled together and had some amazing accomplishments.
I never scored a basket.
Certainly we all realize that there is no bigger team award than coach of the year. If you are Coach of the Year your parents and administration were ultra supportive, your bench players bought in to their roles, your starters played well together and your assistant coaches, trainers, managers and bus drivers all did their jobs well.
I’m thankful for the people who have helped me along the way. I’m just not comfortable when people say I won X amount of games or this or that title. It was my privilege to be taken along for a great ride and I’m thankful to all those that helped us in the journey. The words WE, US, OUR, TEAM and TOGETHER are words I would much rather use.
Most importantly I am thankful to God who has been the highest priority in my life. I praise HIM for all He has done and will continue to do as I try to impact others.
It is our hope to be a blessing and encouragement to young athletes and their coaches. I certainly don’t want to come across as a KNOW IT ALL. We just want to serve people and give something back to the Athletic Community.
